- manuscript illumination and sculpture from
- Ireland and Anglo-Saxon Britain of the
- 6th-8th centuries has intricate spiral and
- geometric ornament, as in The Book of Kells
- (Trinity College, Dublin) and the Lindisfarne
- Gospels (British Museum, London). Metalwork
- using curving incised lines and inlays of
- coloured enamel and coral survived at La
- Tene, a site at Lake Neuchatel, Switzerland.
- Celtic burial goods from Vix, Burgundy,
- include a huge bronze krater, or vase-shaped
- bowl (Chatillon-sur-Seine, France).
